In the Context of Empire

 Any suggestion that the “Third World” is invading America is obscenely ahistorical and needs to be confronted and dismissed

The longest war in American history was initiated and continued on a set of assumptions that were fundamentally untrue. The only way this senseless conflict will end is if the American public understands that the entire justification for the war is deeply flawed.

An investigation into the centrist Democrats’ confusing, seemingly inconsistent criteria for whom they will grant forgiveness and who should be “cancelled.”

On September 17th, President Trump made incredibly sweeping claims in a prepared speech about the state of social studies education in America, claiming – amongst many other things – that “the left-wing rioting and mayhem are the direct result of decades of left-wing indoctrination in our schools,” that “the left has warped, distorted, and defiled the American story with deceptions, falsehoods, and lies,” and that “teaching this horrible doctrine to our children is a form of child abuse in the truest sense of those words.” In Trump’s mind, the supposed radical left has seemingly co-opted America’s educational system to propagate anti-American sentiment. In response, Donald Trump has stated that he will sign an Executive Order to create the 1776 Commission, which will “restore patriotic education to our schools,” and make sure that students are “taught to love America with all of their heart and all of their soul.” While wading through this logically erratic argument that Donald Trump has put forth is difficult, it is important to analyze these claims closely to provide an evidence-based, nuanced look at Trump’s claims.

Donald Trump may have just provided the catalyzing spark for a rejuvenation of effective history education in the United States. Counterintuitive as it may sound, the polarizing orange man may have just brought to national attention some grave flaws with our American approach to teaching out own history. With his platform of instituting “Patriotic Education,” in the what he has described as the “1776 Commission,” the president and his acolytes are seeking to reverse what they see as left wing brainwashing, akin to “child abuse” in the classrooms. The apparent goal expressed by the 45th president, is that education would be a tool utilized to reinforce and invigorate patriotism in the populace, and given Trump’s own trajectory, bolster an American nationalism.

The War on Terror has been destructive, illegal, and above all, immoral. The near twenty year endeavor has also been an incredibly stupid one. Here we analyze three statements, made by our most powerful officials, that are illustrative of the larger idiocy of this war.
